What Is Wi-Fi 7

Wi-Fi 7 — also known as IEEE 802.11be Extremely High Throughput (EHT) — is the latest upcoming Wi-Fi standard. While the 6 GHz frequency band has been supported since Wi-Fi 6E, the performance improvement of the new frequency band is limited because Wi-Fi 6E is still based on Wi-Fi 6. Comparatively, in addition to the 6 GHz frequency band, Wi-Fi 7 introduces a variety of new technologies, such as 4096-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), multiple resource unit (MRU), and multi-link operation (MLO). These help to maximize the benefits of the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequency bands, enabling Wi-Fi 7 to provide higher data rates, lower latency, and higher reliability. Huawei has an abundance of industry know-how and considerable experience in Wi-Fi, and has made remarkable contributions to Wi-Fi industry standards. Huawei has launched its Wi-Fi 7 product to help enterprises build wireless networks with ultimate experience.

Expert Insight

Dr. Osama Aboul-Magd

Chair of IEEE 802.11ax Working Group

Wi-Fi 7 allows us to achieve more capacity, to achieve more reliability, gives us an opportunity to connect more sophisticated, different kind of modern applications like metaverse. It allows us also to help our customers to cover larger spaces, multiple rooms and modernize their other infrastructure.

Faisal Ameer Malik

CTO of Huawei ME&CA EBG

“As predicted by international Data Corporation (IDC), Wi-Fi 7 will see rapid deployment in the next 4 critical years. By 2027, Wi-Fi 7 will account for 65% of the global network.”

Tam Dell’Oro

Founder & CEO of Dell’Oro Group

“Wi-Fi 7 is going to be flowing into the market significantly by the end of 2023 or early 2024. So that's how we see 10G entering the access layer in enterprise offices.”

Jianning Liu

President of Huawei Enterprise Network Marketing & Solution Sales Dept

According to Huawei’s insights into the global enterprise market, the arrival of Wi-Fi 7 will bring new upgrades and changes to enterprise customers’ services.
