The solution was specifically designed to build data lake infrastructures and meet the requirements of workloads in AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments. At the ISC event, Huawei is thus underscoring its leading position as a provider of future-oriented storage technologies for the AI era.
Huawei is demonstrating data storage solutions for HPC & AI applications as well as for the education and research sector, such as the RDM (Research Data Management) platforms. In these industries, the integration of high-performance computing and AI is leading to exponential data growth. Scientific simulations, complex research projects, and advanced AI applications generate petabytes of data daily. This flood of data presents institutions and companies with enormous challenges in efficiently storing, managing, and utilizing their data.
"Our AI Data Lake Solution addresses precisely these challenges," explains Yuan Yuan, Vice President of Huawei Data Storage Product Line. "We offer an end-to-end solution that enables companies not only to store data efficiently but also to significantly increase the data access efficiency of AI applications in training and inference. Our technology breaks down data silos and improves data exchange across device, department, and data center boundaries. This way, we create the foundation for a successful AI transformation."
Huawei's AI Data Lake architecture comprises four main layers:
1. Data storage: The foundation is formed by the Huawei OceanStor A Series for training and inference, and the OceanStor Pacific Series for data lake storage. These systems offer industry-leading performance and efficiency for massive data volumes.
2. Data management: This layer utilizes Huawei DME Omni-Dataverse and eDataInsight for comprehensive data management, including data warehouse, vector DB, data catalog, and access control.
3. AI tool chain: iData and ModelEngine are used to optimize data ingestion, data engineering, model engineering, and app orchestration.
4. Resource management: pooling of diverse xPUs and intelligent scheduling of AI resources
"With our AI Data Lake Solution, we provide companies with a blueprint for their AI transformation. We address all aspects from data storage to AI application, enabling enterprises to harness the full potential of their data," says Yuan.
Huawei has established itself as a leading provider in the global storage market ranking second worldwide and first in China. Earlier this year, Huawei was named a Customers' Choice for the fourth time in 2025 Gartner® Peer Insights™ Voice of the Customer for OceanStor Pacific Scale-out storage.
The company’s storage solutions are deployed in over 150 countries, protecting 30,000 PB of data for more than 26,000 customers, including 261 Fortune Global 500 companies.
Among recent successful implementations are Europe’s leading research institutions and universities such as the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) in Poland and the Consorci de Serveis Universitaris de Catalunya (CSUC) in Spain. These institutions benefit from increased storage capacity, improved energy efficiency, and seamless data access. For example, CSUC was able to increase its storage capacity by 24 times and significantly reduce energy consumption per TB.
