Wasu Media, a subsidiary of Wasu Digital TV Media Group Co., Ltd, is specialized in digital TV network operations and new media development, is a forerunner in China’s new media industry. It operates in the cable network, new media (such as mobile TV and Internet TV), and broadband network sectors throughout China and has gained large numbers of traditional and new media users, including 30 million cable TV home users, 100 million Internet TV users, and 56 million mobile TV users.
As China’s “Internet+” strategy gains traction, Wasu Media is directing its efforts towards three major strategies for development: “new network+app”, “new media+content”, and “big data+development”. These strategies rely heavily on the new network. The surge in the number of users, the demand for multi-screen interaction, and the launch of new services such as HD, 4K, gaming, and VR pose unprecedented challenges to network bandwidth and video experience. With the video content source being moved from the core network to the CDN nearest to users, the OTN will inevitably be moved further downwards.
However, to facilitate the relocation of the OTN, it is imperative to solve issues related to installation, deployment, and converged service transmission. Huawei’s innovative 1U MS-OTN device offers the following features to address these issues:
Zhang Qin, Vice President of Wasu Media, said: “Wasu Media’s primary goal for future development is to build an intelligent new network for converged new media. It aims to provide first-class broadcasting and TV services, meeting the needs of individuals, families, and industries, through enterprise innovation and sustainable development. Huawei MS-OTN provides an advantageous solution that enables Wasu Media to achieve further service penetration and industry expansion. We look forward to continuing our cooperation into the future.”
Zhou Xiao, Vice President of Huawei Transport Network Product Line, said: “Huawei and Wasu Media first started to work together in 2009. Wasu Media has been a pioneer of digital transformation in the media industry. We are honored to witness the rapid development of Wasu Media over the last 10 years and provide competitive optical transmission solutions to facilitate its development. The OSN 1800 I is the smallest MS-OTN device in the industry. It is designed to meet the high bandwidth requirements of new services such as HD live broadcast and VR on the access side. This device uses a converged platform architecture to provide unified access for multiple types of services, thereby simplifying the network and reducing CAPEX and OPEX. In addition to broadcasting and media, the OSN 1800 I can also be widely used in enterprise CPE leased line, campus interconnect, and edge DC interconnect scenarios.”
Huawei is committed to working with customers in the long term and takes a future-oriented approach to drive enterprise digital transformation through the power of the platform. So far, 211 of the Fortune Global 500 companies (including 48 Fortune Global 100 companies) have selected Huawei as their digital transformation partner.
