[Istanbul, Türkiye, September 4, 2024] Huawei wrapped up its inaugural overseas circle event for multiple distribution system operators (DSOs) in Istanbul, Türkiye on September 4, 2024. The event, co-organized by Huawei and the Electricity Distribution Services Association (ELDER), brought together industry experts from China and around the world to discuss the challenges facing the power distribution network. Huawei introduced the Intelligent Distribution Solution (IDS) to help distribution companies improve the reliability of their distribution networks, reduce line loss, embrace new energy development, and support Türkiye's net-zero target by 2053.
Guests of the event
During the event, Li Shenglei, Technical Director of the Research and Development Center of State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power Information and Communication Company, shared the trends, challenges, and achievements of power digitalization in China. He stated, "Since 2020, State Grid Shaanxi and Huawei have been innovatively collaborating to build an intelligent distribution network with our partners. Looking ahead, we suggest that power companies should adopt a more proactive attitude towards new technologies, develop research and development capabilities, set up professional teams, and build a strong digital platform foundation."
In his opening speech, Zübeyir Çalışan, Deputy General Manager of TEDAS, a Turkish distribution company, said, "Based on the '2030 Energy Efficiency Strategy' and 'National Energy Efficiency Action Plan II' released by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye, we have formulated an action plan and quickly launched energy efficiency improvement initiatives, including improving the energy efficiency of general lighting, power transmission, and distribution processes. We are also promoting the widespread use of smart meters based on goals of energy efficiency, climate change, energy supply security, and the European Green Deal."
İlkem Alpay, Business Development and R&D Coordinator of ELDER, stated that efficiency is not only a goal but also a guiding principle for daily practice, and ELDER is a key player in this transformation process. Millions of households rely on the power services provided by distribution network operators, who manage a vast network across the country. With electrification becoming so widespread, these operators need to embrace innovation and novel technology to improve the quality and continuity of their distribution services.
