[Shanghai, China, September 20, 2023] During HUAWEI Connect 2023, Huawei released the Huawei FTTM Solution Planning and Design Guide together with the IT Electronics Eleventh Design & Research Institute Scientific and Technological Engineering Corporation Limited, CHINA FAW GROUP Corporation, and Shuangliang Silicon Materials Limited (Baotou). The Guide focuses on the architecture design, comprehensive cabling design, device selection, and service planning for the fiber to the machine (FTTM) network in intelligent manufacturing scenarios. It aims to accelerate the application of the F5G technology in the intelligent manufacturing field, and promote the rapid development of intelligent manufacturing.
Huawei FTTM Solution Planning and Design Guide officially releasedWith the rapid development of optical fiber networks, optical fibers have entered factories, extending from extra-low voltage (ELV) rooms and cabinets in workshops to machines. An FTTM network is a campus network constructed using optical fibers and the fifth-generation fixed access technologies such as 10G GPON (compatible with GPON) and Wi-Fi 6. The FTTM solution consists of the OLT, ODN, and ONU, which can carry the data of multiple services in a unified manner, such as industrial production control, production site perception, video security, office, and voice call, delivering simplified architecture, high reliability, and intelligent O&M.
The Huawei FTTM Solution Planning and Design Guide consists of four chapters, and systematically describes the FTTM network design principles, FTTM network scenario low level design (LLD) reference, and FTTM network service configuration planning and design reference. It provides end-to-end planning and design guidance for a smart manufacturing campus network.
Wu Jun, Professor-level senior engineer from the IT Electronics Eleventh Design & Research Institute Scientific and Technological Engineering, interpreted the design guide. According to Mr. Wu, the FTTM network solution can build a next-generation factory network featuring simplified architecture, high reliability, and intelligent O&M, serving as an informatization system for smart manufacturing. F5G can be combined with technologies such as cloud computing, digital twin, machine vision, and AI quality inspection to achieve digital and intelligent transformation of manufacturing enterprises.
Currently, the entire industry chain is increasing investment in FTTM networks, and smart factory scenarios are continuously enriched. The FTTM solution has been deployed in hundreds of manufacturing enterprises around the world, covering industries such as automobile, PV, electronics, and light industry, and accelerating the upgrade to smart manufacturing.
