Huawei FTTO Solution for Higher Education, Building a Green and Simplified University Campus Network

Based on Fifth-Generation Fixed Network (F5G) technologies, the Huawei Fiber to the Office (FTTO) solution for higher education replaces traditional active aggregation switches with passive optical splitters, and replaces access switches with optical network units (ONUs). In addition, it extends fibers to rooms or desktops, reducing horizontal cabling and saving energy.

ONUs are provided for outdoor and indoor scenarios. In this way, multiple services are carried on one all-optical network, meeting high reliability, large bandwidth, and wide coverage requirements of university campuses.

Based on the passive optical LAN (POL) technology, the Huawei FTTO solution for higher education uses one fiber network to carry all services in multiple scenarios, including fiber to the dormitory, apartment, classroom, desktop, camera, and even AP. In addition, the passive optical distribution network (ODN) achieves higher reliability and supports future-oriented elastic capacity expansion and flexible evolution.
