Huawei developed NetEngine5000E series large-capacity, high-performance routers provide carrier-class reliability. Based on the powerful Versatile Routing Platform (VRP), NetEngine5000E routers provide strong switching capabilities, dense ports, and high reliability. NetEngine5000E routers can serve as super-core nodes on IP backbone networks, core nodes on metro networks, egresses in large-scale IDCs, and core nodes on large enterprise networks.
NetEngine5000E clusters are positioned as super-core nodes on backbone networks that provide Layer 3 routing and MPLS forwarding. In an NetEngine5000E cluster, a Cluster Central Chassis (CCC) functions as a level-2 switching module and routing engine module in a three-stage switch fabric, and a Cluster Line-card Chassis (CLC) functions as a level-1 or level-3 switching and forwarding module.
NetEngine5000E routers have the industry’s most-compact 1 terabit line cards, and are characterized by high performance, integration, and low power consumption. A 2+2 NetEngine5000E cluster can be smoothly expanded to a 2+8 cluster without interrupting services. In addition, NetEngine5000E routers of different platforms can form a hybrid cluster.
NetEngine5000E routers, developed based on an SDN architecture, provide new backbone network optimization technologies and can smoothly meet SDN requirements for enterprise networks. NetEngine5000E routers also provide network virtualization that enable efficient network operations and development.
NetEngine5000E routers provide high system reliability at the system structure and hardware and software system levels. NetEngine5000E routers also provide protection mechanisms such as IGP fast convergence, IP/LDP/TE/VLL fast reroute, BFD fast link detection, and inter-board trunking to ensure reliable service operation.
