Huawei and Partners Jointly Unveil Reference Architecture for the Interconnected OpenHarmony Ecosystem in Intelligent Buildings and More

[Shanghai, China, September 20, 2024] The forum Driven by Data and AI, Building Intelligent Campus 2.0 was held at Huawei Connect 2024, which brought together business elites, industry experts, and partners from around the world to discuss the enormous opportunities that digital and intelligent technology can bring to various industries.

At the Intelligent Campus Forum, Huawei, along with industry partners, released their latest achievements, including the Reference Architecture for Building OpenHarmony Interconnection and the Exploration and Research of Industrial Campuses' Digital Transformation Paths. Together, they represent a significant step forward toward the stage of Intelligent Campus 2.0, which is 10 Gbps, digital, and green. Digital and intelligent technology incorporated in these achievements will continue to drive industry growth.

"Huawei looks forward to working with customers and industry peers to innovate and bring digital to every campus for pervasive intelligence," said Michael Ma.

In his keynote speech, Eric He, CEO of Huawei Campus Team, highlighted the vital role that campuses will play in the intelligent world. He also noted that AI and OpenHarmony are driving significant advancements of intelligent campuses. "Based on intelligent sensing, connectivity, foundations, and applications, we can build 10 Gbps, digital, and green Intelligent Campus 2.0." According to Eric He, Huawei will collaborate with global partners in gaining deep insights into the campus industry and participating in standards formulation to help the industry thrive.

Zero-carbon campuses are at the forefront of sustainable development and serve as a crucial platform for achieving it. Eyad Abdulla, Head of ICT of Masdar City, delivered a speech titled Intelligence Creates a New Future for Zero-Carbon Campus. He introduced Masdar City as a ground-breaking sustainable urban community and a world-class business and technology hub. "Leveraging Huawei and its partners' leading solutions, we believe that Masdar City can be a global benchmark of sustainable development."

With the flourishing development of ICTs, university campuses, as important hubs for knowledge dissemination and talent cultivation, must urgently go digital and intelligent. Chen Hao, Director of Big Data Center of Hubei University, shared the university's digital and intelligent journey. With the help of Huawei's F5G and Wi-Fi 7 technologies, they were able to construct a new campus network that integrates wired and wireless services. This converged campus network features ultra broadband, full coverage, high reliability, and easy O&M, resulting in an ultra-fast network experience and intelligent O&M management. It will assist the university in building an intelligent university campus 2.0.

Chen Zhongli, Chief Electrical Engineer of Arcplus Group PLC and Chief Editor of the Standard for Design of Intelligent Building (GB50314), stated that GB50314 had been revised to align with the continuous and innovative integration of ICTs into the intelligent building industry. "The new national standard incorporates cutting-edge technologies like AI, digital platforms, Wi-Fi, and DSoftBus, which will help address challenges to conventional buildings and campuses such as insufficient intelligence, information silos, and redundant construction, and it will act as a beacon for building intelligent buildings and campuses that are 10 Gbps, digital, and green."

Mr. Chen also shared the positive impacts of OpenHarmony + AI on the digital and intelligent transformation of buildings and campuses. "We can leverage OpenHarmony to create an open-data intelligent foundation for buildings and use AI to provide ubiquitous smart services."

At the Intelligent Campus Forum, Huawei and industry partners jointly unveiled the Reference Architecture for Building OpenHarmony Interconnection. This white paper proposes a design concept that is all-intelligent, people-oriented, and green & low-carbon, as well as outlines six key technologies such as intelligent upgrade of OpenHarmony terminals and device-cloud synergy with data openness. It also identifies 12 OpenHarmony-based smart scenarios, including smart charging, smart lighting, and AIOC. In the future, Huawei plans to work closely with its partners to establish an OpenHarmony Building Committee in order to accelerate the development of the OpenHarmony ecosystem in buildings.
