  • Dur Hospitality Network Solutions Upgrades to All-New Network Speeds

A Changing Industry

The landscape of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's hospitality industry has changed over recent years, embracing everything from the inaugural Ad Diriyah ePrix, a part of the 2018–19 ABB Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Formula E World Championship, to live music concerts from global artists, international technology exhibitions, and global cultural activities. All such events, and similar, have opened the Kingdom to international tourists.

In addition, Saudi Arabia's National Transformation Program 2020 and Saudi Vision 2030 — the blueprint for economic diversification — have highlighted tourism as crucial to the overall end goals.

In this environment, Dur Hospitality stands as a leading Saudi hospitality company, recognized for its extensive record in managing, developing, and operating a wide portfolio of hotels and residential compounds across the country.

Pressing Challenges

But Dur was facing some problems, from aging devices and a non-scalable network to insufficient bandwidth on both wired and wireless networks. The complexity of network policies was also dragging down the efficiency of Operations and Maintenance (O&M), in turn degrading wireless network coverage.

To address such challenges and keep smooth with rapidly developing services, the company identified Huawei solutions and products as a great fit for its needs.

A Next Generation Solution

By the end of 2021 Dur Hospitality had deployed Huawei's next generation AirEngine Wi-Fi 6 Access Points (APs), including both indoor and outdoor devices, significantly improving network performance. Indeed, the new solution reduces latency to just 10 ms and increases both bandwidth and concurrent access capacity by a factor of four, enhancing the end-user experience and slashing network frame freezing and delays.

Working together with Huawei CloudEngine S12700E series switches, which feature 100 GE ports, AirEngine APs are equipped to handle even the most demanding applications, such as videoconferencing and High Definition (HD) videos, which are characterized by heavy traffic bursts.

Seizing Opportunities

As a market leader in the Kingdom, Dur Hospitality is now well equipped to seize opportunities to grow its business, especially in light of the critical developments taking place under Saudi Vision 2030, which is set to position the Saudi hospitality industry at the forefront of the regional and global hospitality sector.
