OceanStor 5310/5510 Capacity Flash Storage

Huawei OceanStor 5310 and OceanStor 5510 Capacity Flash Storage systems are designed for all scenarios to help customers transition from hybrid flash storage and toward green, resilient, all-flash data centers. The high-capacity Solid-State Drives (SSDs), FlashLink® disk-controller collaboration algorithm, and Storage Area Network (SAN), Network-Attached Storage (NAS), and container capabilities lead the industry in terms of performance, physical size, and power consumption. The devices provide high-quality services for Tier 1 and Tier 2 applications that are not latency sensitive, such as virtualization, containers, files, backup, and archiving.

All-Scenario All Flash

• Huawei OceanStor 5310 and OceanStor 5510 are oriented toward mission-critical services — including virtualization, file, backup, archiving, and Disaster Recovery (DR) — as well as non-critical services: this is all-flash for all scenarios. • Indeed, one storage system supports diverse protocols — including block, file, object, vSphere APIs for Array Integration (VAAI), and Container Storage Interface (CSI) — for a range of applications. • A maximum of 128 controllers and 1024 PiB effective capacity are supported for extreme capacity needs.

Eco-friendly and Energy-saving

Sustainable

• Compared with performance-oriented SSDs and Hard-Disk Drives (HDDs) of the same capacity, capacity-oriented SSDs consume 60% less energy. • They also occupy far less physical space: 66.7% less than performance-oriented SSDs and 92% less than HDDs. • The devices support cross-generation systems existing in one cluster through scale-out and scale-in technologies, ensuring no host shut-downs during any additional storage upgrades.

Cost-Effective

• Intelligent Single-Level Cell (SLC) caching technology reduces the write amplification of capacity-oriented SSDs and prolongs their service life by 60%. • The FlashLink® technology accelerates the performance of a single disk — and the entire system — boosting Input/Output Operations Per Second (IOPS) by a factor of five. Bandwidth is also doubled. • A scenario-specific compression algorithm performs deep compression on compressed files, with the secondary compression ratio reaching 1.7:1.
