Huawei's Innovative Optical Transmission Technology Debuts at Asia Pacific Rail Exhibition 2023 in Bangkok

[Bangkok, June 8, 2023] Recently, as a leading global ICT solutions provider, Huawei showcased its innovative railway intelligence solutions at the Asia Pacific Rail 2023, the region's most influential rail event. Huawei demonstrated its strong commitment to providing intelligent, efficient, and sustainable rail systems in the Asia Pacific region.

With a population of 4.2 billion (61 percent of the global population), the Asia-Pacific region is experiencing rapid expansion and urbanization, leading to increased demand for improved transport services. In recent years, several countries in the Asia-Pacific region are leveraging new ICT solutions to build a safer, more efficient, and smarter railway communication network, as well as enable digital transformation of the railway industry.

With more than 20 years of commercial practice and patent accumulation in communications technologies, Huawei is committed to improving the security and efficiency of railway operation and maintenance through its latest ICT solutions. Leveraging advanced digital technologies such as data analysis, autonomous systems, FRMCS, networking, storage, and the Internet of Things (IoT), Huawei is changing the way transmission systems are managed, used, and reimagined. Technological advances focus on the seamless integration of various modes of transport and integration with the rest of society.

Pan Chock Teck, Senior Manager of Huawei Asia-Pacific Enterprise Transport and Railway Solutions

Pan Chock Teck, Senior Manager of Huawei Asia-Pacific Enterprise Transport and Railway Solutions, gave a presentation at the event, saying that Huawei's MS-OTN solution focuses on key challenges and opportunities for railways and metros, and makes full use of optical communication technologies to make breakthrough innovations with an all-optical foundation. The solution meets network requirements such as high bandwidth, high security, high reliability, low latency, and scalability, and uses its resources to lease bandwidth.

Enabling a smarter rail communication network:

Ultra-large bandwidth: The single-fiber rate increases from 10 Gbit/s to 100+ Gbit/s, and the bandwidth is increased by more than 10 times, saving optical fiber resources. This not only supports the rapid growth of communication traffic brought by smart railway operations but also provides sufficient bandwidth for bandwidth operations, which is a new service growth point.
Secure and reliable: MS-OTN platform and all-optical industrial network PON(passive optical network) are based on the timeslot hard pipe technology to implement end-to-end isolation and bearing of rail services such as ETCS, CTC, and CCTV, ensuring secure operation.
Multi-service access and low latency: A single device adapts to different boards and carries PCM, SDH, packet, and OTN services, while the innovative gray-light + colored-light convergence solution enables flexible capacity expansion based on site bandwidth requirements. Terminal services are one hop from the station to the control center, improving the service experience, and meeting evolution requirements in the future.
Simplified O&M: All-optical networks and traditional networks are greatly improved, and SDH-Like O&M habits are consistent. The next-generation NCE intelligent O&M supports network resource visualization, link status visualization, and intelligent fault prediction to further simplify network O&M.

Keeping up with digitalization:

Looking ahead, Huawei will continue to explore innovations and practices, fully utilize its information and communication technology capabilities, and build a digital infrastructure network foundation for the intelligent rail transportation industry, helping steadily promote the digital transformation of smart rail.
