Huawei Ranks No. 1 in China's POL Market for the Sixth Consecutive Year with FTTO Solution

[Shenzhen, China, June 4, 2025] In the “IDC China Semiannual POL Tracker, 2024H2” recently released by IDC, the international data corporation, Huawei ranked No.1 in China's Passive Optical LAN (POL) market for the year 2024. This is the sixth consecutive year in which Huawei has led the POL market in China.

Huawei Ranks No. 1 in China's POL Market for the Sixth Consecutive Year with FTTO Solution

The report highlights the China’s POL market growth in four major drivers: national strategy support, technological innovation, enterprise requirements, and vendor competition. According to IDC's report, as copper cable networks are phased out under the trend of "Fiber-in Copper-out", the Chinese government has strengthened the guidance and support for the construction of gigabit optical networks. IDC expects China's POL market to grow by 7.3% to CNY1.99 billion by 2025. IDC also predicts that the market will maintain a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.3% for the next five years, reaching CNY2.52 billion by 2029.

As the leader in China's POL market, Huawei has successfully commercialized its FTTO solution in more than 10,000 campuses, involving scenarios such as education, healthcare, hotels, and manufacturing. In the AI era, our mantra is: no fiber, no AI. The FTTO solution has been widely applied to build intelligent campus networks. Based on this, AI adoption is efficiently supported to boost computing of campus networks. This has led to the solution becoming a must-have for campuses in the AI era. Huawei has comprehensively upgraded its products, solutions, partner tools, and enablement platforms.

As of 2025 H1, Huawei has released the 10G FTTO solution and a series of flagship ONTs, which, based on innovative 50G PON and Wi-Fi 7 technologies, have achieved 50G to rooms, 10G to APs, and 2.5G to desktops. Compared with the original FTTO solution, the 10G FTTO solution is upgraded in five aspects: higher bandwidth, more connections, lower latency, higher reliability, and more energy-efficient. It meets customers' requirements for building green 10G campus networks.

For partners, Huawei has released the FTTO Planner, which uses AI to identify CAD drawings and automatically generate configurations. It shortens the network design time from 2 days to 1 hour to help partners efficiently plan networks. In addition, Huawei has provided a one-stop enablement platform for partners to apply optical solutions, accelerating the rollout of the 10G FTTO solution.
