Enhance Computing with Optical, Building a Next-Generation Data Center Network for AI
As AI enters various industries, DCs are shifting from centralized to multi-layer and distributed in the intelligent era. This presents new challenges.
In intelligent computing DCN scenarios, the demand for computing power increases rapidly, leading to continuous growth in cluster scale. This calls for future-proof, energy-efficient, and highly-reliable networks. Huawei has introduced all-optical cross-connect (OXC) to DCNs, launching cutting-edge DC Optical Switch to create a next-generation intelligent computing DCN that combines optical and electrical technologies for AI.
In DCI scenarios, as general-purpose AI models evolve at a tremendous pace, centralized computing centers have limited resources like power and space. Overcoming this requires distributing computing power across regions, yet cross-region AI training demands high network performance. Huawei has introduced an all-optical lossless DCI solution to enhance collaboration efficiency in intelligent computing.

An optical-electrical Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) transmission device designed for Data Center Interconnect (DCI) and ready for the toughest challenges of the intelligent era, OptiXtrans DC908 Series features: simplified deployment, from scratch to completion in just eight minutes; ultra-broadband and high integration, with 96T per fiber; and intelligent, proactive Operations and Maintenance (O&M) that’s AI ready.
Based on the MS-OTN architecture, the highly integrated optical-electrical convergence platform supports access of PCM, PDH, SDH, PKT and OTN services. With powerful unified cross-connect capabilities, the platform implements integrated multi-service bearing. The OptiXtrans E6600 is capable of evolving to the fgOTN technology defined by the ITU-T.
