OstTelCom Implements New Data Center in Just Five Days
Enterprise products, solutions & services
With digitalization in full swing, OstTelCom — a local service provider, offering cable TV, Internet, and telephone connections to individual, private customers — is reaping the rewards: its business is expanding, so much so that it has outgrown its original Werdau home, situated in Eastern Germany (as the company’s name alludes to).
With growth comes change. In the second half of 2020, OstTelCom plans to relocate and renovate its headquarters, but it required new cable network infrastructure to be in place before that process begins. Obviously enough, OstTelCom wanted to optimize costs, but it was also keenly aware that, while its new data center needed to meet rapidly expanding service requirements, it also needed to be in place in the shortest possible timeframe.
OstTelCom engineers found that Huawei's prefabricated solution precisely met their needs. To shorten the construction time, Huawei designed a one-stop, full-stack solution, integrating Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), cabinets, air conditioner, and monitoring systems into one 40 ft prefabricated module.
Cooperating with partners — IT-Total AG Stuttgart and E.C.S. Elektronik Computer Service GmbH — the all-in-one prefabricated modular data center needed just two days to deploy: transportation and hoisting from the arrival port to the construction site took a single day; installation of the main equipment and power supply was performed on a second. After three further days of commissioning, the new data center was up and stably running, meeting the requirements of OstTelCom's demanding schedule.
The new data center complies with IP65 Enclosure Rating, making it suitable for outdoor deployment in all but extreme weather environments. Moreover, advanced security features — such as three-level anti-theft protection, electronic access control, and video security — safeguard the company's property.
"With the latest technology, our network is more fail-safe, and the new headend is in line with current, modern security standards and regulations," commented Sandra Zluga, the Managing Director of OstTelCom GmbH.
