Huawei Launches WAN-Oriented TB-Level Routers for Enterprise Cloud Transformation

2018.10.16

[Shanghai, China, October 15, 2018] At HUAWEI CONNECT 2018, Huawei launched the NE40E-F1A, the first TB-level high-density programmable router oriented toward WAN. The NE40E-F1A, compact at only 600 mm deep and 1 U high, provides large 2T capacity. It applies to various industries in enterprise network scenarios, including electric power, transportation, ISP, education, finance, safe city, media and information, and broadcasting and television, facilitating digitalization and cloud transformation for enterprise customers.

WAN is the cornerstone of enterprise services and applications. As big data analytics, AI, and other emerging technologies continue to mature, the rapid increase of service and application types leads to the exponential growth of WAN traffic. Traditional WAN not only fails to meet the requirements of flexible cloud services but also faces numerous challenges in service bearing. Based on the programmable Solar 5.0 chip and featuring high-density 100G, the energy-efficient NE40E-F1A meets the requirements of efficient operations and bandwidth evolution of enterprise cloud services and lowers customers' OPEX.

Ultra-high performance, high-density 100G

Huawei’s NE40E-F1A can house up to 20 x 100GE interfaces and 24 x 25GE interfaces. It supports a wide range of interfaces types, such as 100GE, 40GE, 25GE, 10GE, GE, and 4 x GE breakout interfaces. The flexible selection of interfaces meets the requirements for various scenarios such as high-density 100GE interconnection and high-density 25GE access.

Future-oriented programmable architecture

The NE40E-F1A uses Huawei’s programmable Solar 5.0 network processing chip, which provides four times the capacity of the previous generation. The NE40E-F1A supports a wide array of technologies (such as Segment Routing, EVPN, Telemetry, and IPv6) and can adapt to the requirements of SDN, IDN, IPv6, LTE-R, and 5G evolution, helping customers accelerate the cloudification of enterprise services.

Ultra-low power consumption, energy saving design

The NE40E-F1A has an industry-leading power consumption of only 0.4W/G, a wide operating temperature of –5°C to +45°C, and quiet (at or below 72 dB) operation at normal temperature, helping enterprise customers achieve energy-efficient development and lower OPEX.

Mike Ma, Vice President of Huawei Router and Carrier Ethernet Product Line, highlighted the fact that Huawei NE40E-F1A uses various innovative technologies to overcome bandwidth and operational challenges, thereby helping enterprise customers build next-generation ultra-broadband WANs that are intelligent, simplified, ultra-broadband, secure, and open. This enables enterprise customers to realize business success.

Huawei has developed rapidly in the global WAN market. This is evident in the fact that, in the enterprise router market, Huawei ranks No. 1 in China and No. 2 globally. Huawei's enterprise routers have been deployed on hundreds of networks worldwide, connecting hundreds of millions of families and enterprise users.

Huawei is committed to working with enterprise customers in the long term and takes a future-oriented approach to drive enterprise digital transformation through the power of the platform. So far, 211 of the Fortune Global 500 companies (including 48 Fortune Global 100 companies) have selected Huawei as their digital transformation partner.
