As the world begins to recover, and organizations look for ways to thrive in this new environment, advanced connectivity and technology will play a more important role than ever. The theme of this year’s Baltic Connect is Dive into Digital. We’re going to dive deep into the practical application of technologies like cloud, and AI, data analysis in all industries. You will learn how they can make organizations of all shapes and sizes more efficient, more versatile, and ultimately more resilient as we move toward economic recovery.

Mr Watson is a very experienced, career Chief information Office [CIO], and over the last twenty years has worked in various industries but mostly for the UK and Abu Dhabi Governments. He has managed and led improvements in all aspects of technology systems and information related processes. He has experience of implementing and running call centres, intelligence systems, GIS, mobile data, radio solutions and CCTV systems as well the underlying technology platforms and data centres.
Mr Watson has a lot of experience in creating high level solution architectures that are meaningful and easily understood by senior officers and stakeholders. He has developed methods of creating high level solution architectures that allow operational officers and technologists to work together in collaborative ways. This is to ensure that technology is exploited to the maximum possible extent in achieving maximum operational benefit.
As a former chartered civil engineer, qualified in surveying, Mr Watson was the appointed UK Police lead for GIS and mapping systems for over seven years. He was appointed to deliver the systems that provided GIS intelligence for the London 2012 Olympics. This included engagement with a wide variety of agencies that owned data about sub ground, ground and air services.
At the Metropolitan Police Mr. Watson was the Deputy CIO and amongst many other things responsible for; data protection, privacy and security. He was responsible for ensuring that police systems and processes at the Met Police and on national programmes were compatible with the stringent UK laws on data protection and standards for security. He has exceptional understanding of the issues around privacy and is passionate about making sure government information systems are proportionality secure to respect the privacy of the data subjects. Mr. Watson was the National lead for the UK Management of Police Information Code of Practice. This sets out how all police forces will manage crime and intelligence to ensure best operational use and compliance with privacy laws. Mr Watson was the acting CIO for the Metropolitan Police, during the London Olympics.
Mr Watson was also the CIO for the UK government vetting agency, responsible clearing people to work with children or vulnerable adults. This involved working with all arms of local and regional government and many private companies. It was a very complex structure to share sensitive personal data about applications and their vetting decisions.
At the British Transport Police, who are responsible for policing the whole UK rail network, Mr. Watson won awards for the mobile data solution. He has spoken extensively not just on the technical solution, but also the philosophy of mobile policing and the best practice business processes that were adopted to ensure maximum benefits.
At Huawei, with his deep experience and understanding of workflows and processes, Mr Watson works closely with the product and solution team to develop leading ICT solutions. He will also help governments and public safety agencies across the world better understand future challenges, emerging trends to identify solution requirements and best practices. As a former chartered civil engineer, qualified in surveying, Mr Watson was the appointed UK Police lead for GIS and mapping systems for over seven years. He was appointed to deliver the systems that provided GIS intelligence for the London 2012 Olympics. This included engagement with a wide variety of agencies that owned data about sub ground, ground and air services.
At the Metropolitan Police Mr. Watson was the Deputy CIO and amongst many other things responsible for; data protection, privacy and security. He was responsible for ensuring that police systems and processes at the Met Police and on national programmes were compatible with the stringent UK laws on data protection and standards for security. He has exceptional understanding of the issues around privacy and is passionate about making sure government information systems are proportionality secure to respect the privacy of the data subjects. Mr. Watson was the National lead for the UK Management of Police Information Code of Practice. This sets out how all police forces will manage crime and intelligence to ensure best operational use and compliance with privacy laws. Mr Watson was the acting CIO for the Metropolitan Police, during the London Olympics.
Mr Watson was also the CIO for the UK government vetting agency, responsible clearing people to work with children or vulnerable adults. This involved working with all arms of local and regional government and many private companies. It was a very complex structure to share sensitive personal data about applications and their vetting decisions.
At the British Transport Police, who are responsible for policing the whole UK rail network, Mr. Watson won awards for the mobile data solution. He has spoken extensively not just on the technical solution, but also the philosophy of mobile policing and the best practice business processes that were adopted to ensure maximum benefits.
At Huawei, with his deep experience and understanding of workflows and processes, Mr Watson works closely with the product and solution team to develop leading ICT solutions. He will also help governments and public safety agencies across the world better understand future challenges, emerging trends to identify solution requirements and best practices. Mr Watson is based in Reading, UK.

Initially he helped build the Huawei Enterprise service business in Western Europe, and in 2012 took over responsibility for the worldwide Service Marketing organization for which he relocated to the Huawei HQ in Shenzhen. As an industry expert he advises the leadership team on a variety of topics, leveraging his many years of experience. Hank frequently travels abroad to meet customers, partners, analysts and other experts to understand their needs and perspectives and to share his view on the future of the ICT service industry. Hank is a frequent speaker at international events and has published several articles about the ICT industry.
Hank started his professional career in 1990 at a Networking Systems Integrator in the Netherlands. He joined Cisco Systems in 1994 where he worked for over 15 years in the services organization in various leadership positions. He has held positions in service delivery, product management, marketing and sales both in Europe and in Cisco’s headquarter in California
