Background
Recently, Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure won the bidding for China Everbright Bank's (CEB) converged architecture level-2 resource pool construction project. CEB's is headquartered in Beijing and it is a financial enterprise approved by the State Council and by People's Bank of China. In 2017, it ranked 49 in the English magazine The Banker's "Top 1000 World Banks", and 329 on the 2017 Global Fortune 500 list. Due to their outstanding innovation capabilities and bright performance, CEB was named Most Innovative Bank of the Year and won CCTV China Brand of the Year."
Challenges
This project involves the deployment of a new resource pool for all CEB branches, achieving the full-scale application of Huawei's FusionCube hyper-converged infrastructure and FusionSphere virtualization software. CEB cloud construction core idea is to consult the industry's mainstream cloud computing architecture to build CEB's private cloud overall capabilities. Through the construction of a private cloud, they plan to achieve the following key goals:
-
100% service support coverage
-
100% service provisioning and configuration coverage
-
Achieve mobility and interoperability within the private cloud's internal resource pool.
Solution
During the construction process, it is necessary to implement differentiated deployment, unified management, and heterogenous resources to achieve a resource pool for the whole bank. All HQ and branch resources are managed on the cloud management platform. Production and transaction applications of branches are migrated to the level-1 HQ resource pool. This innovative two-level resource pool mode enables centralized resource management and scheduling. BEC went through a multi-party selection process and finally chose to use Huawei's hyper-converged product series' FusionCube 6000. The embedded Huawei cloud platform software enables the construction of the entire resource pool.
Huawei FusionCube's converged architecture resource pool solution possesses the following key features:
-
It can be deployed on 4U/2U servers to maximize space usage, maximize performance, centralize management, and meet the requirements of key application service scenarios.
-
Branches do not require professional IT O&M personnel. One integrated management interface achieves remote and unified branch software and hardware management.
-
Minimal O&M management greatly decreases planning design, delivery, and O&M investment, reducing TCO by 35% or more.
-
Using the hyper-converged architecture achieves outstanding performance through a fully distributed architecture and embedded distributed storage engine to eliminate performance bottlenecks.
-
Uses the multi-copy, cross-node backup mode to ensure data reliability and security, as well as service stability against hardware faults.
Benefits
Due to the FusionCube features mentioned above, more and more finance customers are choosing Huawei's FusionCube to deploy their services. Huawei FusionCube hyper-converged infrastructure is already widely used in Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, China Merchants Bank, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, China CITIC Bank, China Continent Property & Casualty Insurance, Hong Kong Infocast, Pacific Insurance and many other financial institutions.
