Privacy Statement for Huawei Network Summit 2022

Huawei Network Summit 2022 (hereinafter referred to ase “HNS 2022”, formerly known as “DCIS 2022”) ) is an event organized through the online platform https://events02.huawei.com/OnlineForm/register/651212609/register.html?site=de&way=online (hereinafter the “platform”) hosted by Huawei Technologies Duesseldorf GmbH, a company duly incorporated and exists under the laws of Germany and its registered office located at Hansaallee 205, 40549 Düsseldorf (hereinafter referred to as "we", "us" or "our").

The event will take place the 27th of September in Munich and participants can join onsite after registration through the platform above mentioned. It will also be possible to follow online the live broadcasting of the HNS 2022 keynote sessions without a registration required through this page: https://e.huawei.com/en/special_topic/product/enterprise-network/DCIS-2022.

We take your privacy seriously, and take all appropriate security measures to protect it in accordance with the industry's well-established safety standards. Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.

1.  How do we process your personal data and what is the legal basis?

Personal data means any data that, either on its own or jointly with other data, can be used to identify a natural person. After you read and acknowledge this statement, Huawei will collect your personal data while you use Huawei products or services with the purpose of providing you with high-quality services and information. The following describes the scenarios where we process your personal data, categories of personal data processed, and purposes and means of processing.

1)    Event registration and notification: If you want to join the HNS 2022 Onsite, an online registration will be needed through this platform: https://events02.huawei.com/OnlineForm/register/651212609/register.html?site=de&way=online

In order to generate a personal account and approve the registration through email for the participants who will join the HNS 2022 onsite in Munich, we need to process below personal data, without which we can’t properly process your registration for participation:

-       Register as an onsite participant for the HNS 2022: your e-mail, telephone number (optional), first name, last name, country/region, company, job title, industry and your interested session (optional) will be processed.

            This processing is based on performance of contract at your choice of participation.

2)    Verification and identification of onsite attendance: In order to verify the identification of onsite attendance, we will process your full name and email address associated with your electronic badge, without which we can’t verify the identification and it won´t be possible to participate in our onsite session. This processing is based on performance of contract.

3)    Survey: when participating onsite in the HNS 2022, the onsite attendees will be asked to scan a QR code to fill in the survey at the end of the sessions. If you choose to conduct the survey, your first name, last name, company, email, Country/Region, mobile phone number (optional), job title, industry, network scenarios involved, interested businesses, , satisfaction, comments, and suggestions (optional) will be processed. This processing is based on our legitimate interest.

4)    Marketing leads: If during the onsite participation of HNS 2022, you give your consent therein, we would further contact you for workshops, POC or ordering requests. In such cases, y we will process the following data: first name, last name, telephone number (optional), country/region, company, job title, industry, and products or solution of interest. This processing is applicable for onsite participants and based on your consent. The data only when customer agreed to be contacted may be stored in our Marketing to lead Platform and the supplier server is in China. The participants can exercise the right of withdrawal through the same contact channel when we contact you or according to section 4 of this statement.

5)    Electronic Direct Marketing/EDM: if you give your consent during the online registration, we will send via email product and promotion related contents according to your indicated preferences.

-       For the onsite participants, we will process the e-mail, telephone number (optional), first name, last name, country/region, company, job title, industry and your interested session will be processed, in order to send the preferred session links, latest information of products, solutions and services available in the based region of the participant.

This processing is applicable for the onsite participants who registered and is based on their consent. The participants can withdraw the consent through the “Unsubscribe” option in any of EDM e-mail at any time or according to section 4 of this statement.

2. How do we protect and retain your personal data?

The security of your personal data is important to us. We use appropriate physical, management, and technical measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, use, modification, damage, or loss. Huawei is not legally liable for any unauthorized access, disclosure, use, damage, or loss of your personal data not caused by us. Although no security measure is perfect, we are fully committed to protecting your personal data.

We will only retain your personal data for as long as is necessary for the purposes provided for in this Statement, unless otherwise required or permitted by law.

For onsite participants: In order to have our local affiliates in EU/EEA to coordinate onsite participants on our behalf, we will disclose your data provided for registration.

To verify if the participant is registered, Our event supplier will verify your name and email address, associated with the electronic badge whose server is in France.

Marketing Lead based on consent in survey

To respond your request of workshop, POC or ordering and share with you more about our products, solutions and services, the relevant data will be shared to our customer development suppliers, and then to Huawei local Marketing team or Huawei channel partners in Germany.  

(3) Exceptional disclosures related to legal proceedings or business transactions

We may access, disclose, and retain your personal data as permitted by law when we have legitimate grounds to believe it is necessary to do so for the following purposes:

Your data may also be disclosed as part of merger, acquisition, sale of assets (such as service agreements) or transition of service to Huawei affiliates or the third-parties.

Statement Update

The name of this event has been changed from Huawei Data Communication Innovation Summit 2022 (DCIS 2022) to Huawei Network Summit 2022 (HNS 2022). Since the online live streaming service has been cancelled for this event, we will not process the personal data required by the online live streaming service. In addition, we have selected the supplier in EU to provide on-site verification service of customer identity, so we have updated our privacy statement accordingly.
