Rail is six times more energy efficient, emits nine times less CO2, and reduces the number of road casualties significantly. If we look at the big picture, we are already part of the solution for decarbonizing transport, if we can achieve a massive modal shift. We have ten years for implementing the UN strategy: avoid, shift, improve. To turn this modal shift into a reality, the new trends are well-known: we have to promote clean fuel, innovative transport solutions, advancing telematics applications, while enhancing safety.

Road transport plays a crucial role in global supply chains. Hard pipe networks have been widely used in rail transport. Huawei first launched the third-generation native hard pipe (NHP) network, which uses P2MP OTN to achieve E2E hard pipes from access networks to WANs. NHP reduces latency by 60% and ensures absolute security of key services, accelerating digital transformation of rail transport.
