[Shanghai, China, September 18, 2026] During HUAWEI CONNECT 2026, Huawei officially launched three intelligent power transmission and transformation solutions, equipping the power grid with state-of-the-art AI. These solutions aim to break through the bottlenecks of traditional communication networks in service bearing, operation and maintenance (O&M) efficiency, and smooth evolution, providing future-oriented digital and intelligent planning references for decision-makers in the power industry and accelerating the intelligent transformation of grid O&M.
Themed "AI Reshapes the Transmission Grid, Building a Digital and Intelligent Foundation for New Power Systems," the Huawei Power Transmission and Transformation Forum drew representatives from domestic and international power companies as well as experts from industry organizations.

"For next-gen substations, digitalization isn't about more technology; it's about earlier perception, better decision-making, and safer, swifter action." said Bantu Bandile Jack, General Manager of Eskom's Distribution Business in Gauteng, South Africa.

"We don't need tools that merely automate routine O&M tasks. We need true AI agents for power O&M that support equipment perception, early warning, authorized autonomous decision-making, and human-machine collaboration at critical steps. These "digital experts" are expected to shift O&M from reactive response to proactive prevention, and from relying on experience to operating on data and accumulated knowledge." said Fu Yinfang, Head of the DC Intelligent O&M Technology Center, EHV Branch, State Grid Zhejiang.
Focusing on industry challenges and technological trends, Huawei officially unveiled three intelligent power transmission and transformation solutions at the forum.
Built on fgOTN technology, Huawei's optical communication network strengthens security across three areas: digital optical cable network security, quantum encryption, and timing security. It also retains core capabilities such as physical isolation, ultra-low latency, and ultra-long-haul transmission. To address the long-standing absence of digital methods for optical cable management, Huawei launched the digital optical cable network solution. By introducing communication-sensing-computing technology, the solution makes optical fiber resources visible, manageable, and controllable, shifting from black-box, reactive operations to transparent, proactive O&M. Huawei also launched the Optical Transport Network (OTN) communication-quantum encryption integration solution, which provides Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) functions and leverages silicon photonic quantum integrated coherent transceivers as well as advanced Forward Error Correction (FEC) algorithms. The solution reuses existing fibers, reducing equipment footprint and power supply requirements by 50% and cutting operational costs by 60%. For timing security, it achieves identical transmit and receive paths. This eliminates the need for latency compensation, instruments, and maintenance, ensuring reliable clock signals.
Increases in terminal interconnection, exposure surfaces, and diverse network attack methods are making power grid security more critical than ever. In response, Huawei launched the Stellar AI Power Network, featuring a comprehensive AI + security upgrade. It adopts an intrinsic QKD architecture and a proprietary noise suppression algorithm to integrate the channels for communication, quantum encryption, and key negotiation into one, reducing network construction costs by 50%. For intelligent O&M upgrades, its AI agent enables configuration simulation, achieving 100% simulation accuracy across 10,000 network elements within 10 minutes. This ensure zero configuration errors on the live network. The new CloudEngine S5755I industrial switch supports MACsec encryption and Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) or High-Availability Seamless Redundancy (HSR) on all ports. This strikes a balance between security and reliability, helping the power transmission and transformation communication network evolve from stable connections to intelligent and secure connections.
Huawei launched the Microwave Backhaul Network for Intelligent Transmission Line Inspection solution, which uses Huawei's next-generation RTN 5100 public spectrum microwave to build an efficient, secure, and reliable wireless relay transmission channel for high-definition video and multi-dimensional sensor monitoring data on power transmission lines. The RTN 5100 microwave features license-free spectrum, Gbit/s-level capacity, Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) technology for anti-interference, air-interface national cryptographic encryption, and high-reliability always-on connectivity. A single device consumes only 10 W, making it suitable for tower-mounted solar power. The microwave backhaul network solution shortens a single transmission line inspection cycle from 20 days to 2 hours, enabling full inspection coverage even in areas without signal.
Huawei believes that AI is the essential path to flexibility and certainty in power transmission and transformation communication networks, and will be the future of O&M in the field. Building on these three solutions, Huawei will continue to help the electric power industry build a stronger digital and intelligent foundation for new power systems, driving intelligent transformation to a new level.
