[Shanghai, China, September 17, 2026] During HUAWEI CONNECT 2026, Huawei and Shandong Haina Intelligent Equipment Technology Co., Ltd. (Haina Technology) jointly released the optical fiber sensing solution for belt conveyor health prediction. This innovative solution, leveraging distributed optical fiber sensing technology and AI large models, detects faults in conveyor idlers on coal mine belt conveyors, safeguarding mine transportation.

Zhu Kai, Chairman of Haina Technology, is launching the optical fiber sensing solution for belt conveyor health prediction
In industries such as building materials, mining, logistics, smelting, and electric power, belt conveyors serve as the arteries for material transportation, with conveyor idlers acting as their critical joints. Once a conveyor idler fails, it can lead to belt misalignment, tearing, or spontaneous combustion due to friction, resulting in significant economic losses and endangering the lives of onsite personnel.
Traditional solutions rely on manual inspection along the conveyor line, which is inefficient, difficult, and prone to missed detections. To overcome this industry challenge, Haina Technology and Huawei have collaborated to advance the distributed optical fiber sensing technology. Leveraging the advantages of this technology—high sensitivity, corrosion resistance, immunity to electromagnetic interference, passivity, and easy deployment—and integrating Huawei's AI large model capabilities in optical fiber sensing, they have launched an AI-powered optical fiber sensing solution for belt conveyor health prediction. The solution features the following technical advantages:
• Extremely few missed alarms: Huawei's unique low-noise coherent optical receiving system and high-performance optical digital signal processing (oDSP) algorithm achieve high detection sensitivity for subtle fiber stretching caused by weak signals. The detected strain can reach one 300,000th of a hair's diameter, achieving a miss rate of ≤ 1%.
• Few false alarms: Based on massive data and Huawei's scientific computing large model, the solution uses audio pre-training and multi-scale feature modeling algorithms to intelligently identify abnormal sounds from conveyor idlers, achieving a false alarm rate of < 1 idler/km/day and a positioning accuracy of ≤ 3 meters.
• Remote diagnosis: Using high-precision bone conduction sound collection technology combined with audio noise reduction and enhancement algorithms, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is improved by 60%. This enables high-fidelity reproduction of abnormal sounds on site, allowing inspection personnel to remotely listen to and verify the sounds again.
At the event, Zhu Kai, Chairman of Haina Technology, stated that the optical fiber sensing solution for belt conveyor health prediction, jointly developed in deep collaboration with Huawei, integrates acoustic sensing and intelligent sound reproduction algorithms. This solution drives the transformation of the conveyor idler operation and maintenance (O&M) model from "reactive repair" to "proactive O&M," addressing the limitations of traditional belt conveyor inspection solutions that fail to detect potential faults at an early stage.
Going forward, Huawei will continue to innovate in areas such as optical fiber sensing technology alongside industry partners and customers, bringing more innovative applications to various sectors and helping industries achieve intelligent inspection.
