Founded in 1992, Bank Alfalah Limited is the sixth largest bank in Pakistan operating a network of over 500 branches in more than 170 cities across Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bahrain, and UAE.
Bank Alfalah Limited aims to continue investing in its core strengths to provide ‘best in class’ products and services to its diverse range of clients.
To achieve its business development goals, Bank Alfalah Limited set up a plan to upgrade its existing enterprise communication and collaboration system, to build a system with better experience, efficient communication, fast response, smooth scalability, and integration.
Bank Alfalah Limited faced the following challenges:
Bank Alfalah Limited required state-of-the-art, pure IP technology, IP enabled connection, and IP peer to peer switching that connects endpoints directly to each other through the network. The system also needed to support IP endpoints and traditional TDM endpoints and be able to network to other same-type systems using standard protocol.
Bank Alfalah required HD video conferencing systems to provide better user experience. Outstanding network adaptability was required to ensure a better participant experience, to allow sites to communicate with each other smoothly, anytime anywhere, and complete integration with existing video conferencing terminals to provide a converged conference experience.
To resolve these challenges for Bank Alfalah Limited, Huawei offered a standard IP-based converged IPT and video conferencing system to upgrade the existing communication system. Based on the open exchange platform, the system offers easy and secure access to diverse communication services through a wide variety of terminals.
A comprehensive system was provided to Bank Alfalah Limited with IP PBX (U1960), IAD1224, MCU VP8650, Management System and Internal GK SMC2.0, Public GK SC, IP Phones, as well as video terminals MC850, VP9050, RP200-55, RP100- 46S, VP9030 etc. Before deployment, a POC test was performed in the live environment of Bank Alfalah under different scenarios to test the interoperability with the existing system. The system was tested and all the required functions from Bank Alfalah were demonstrated in the PoC.
MCU provides resources for multi-party conferencing, in which both IPT and video conferencing systems can be seamlessly integrated and converged into one conference, thus largely increasing communication efficiency.
Using Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC), Automatic Gain Control (AGC), and Acoustic Noise Suppression (ANS) technologies, the HD video conferencing system provides users with clear, full-duplex digital audio. Using Super Error Concealment (SEC) 2.0, the HD video conferencing system ensures good quality of service (QoS). With these technologies, video conferences can run smoothly even when the packet loss rate reaches 5%.
With Huawei, Bank Alfalah Limited built up a complete converged IPT and video conferencing solution to allow all end terminals to join the same conference, provide HD and natural face-to-face communication experience, and highly improve communication and collaboration efficiency.
