Huawei CloudEngine Switches Receive the ShowNet Product Award for the Open SDN Capabilities at Interop Tokyo 2016
[Shenzhen, China, June 8, 2016]
At Interop Tokyo 2016, Huawei CE8860 and CE6851 data center switches received the Best of Show Award Grand Prix in the ShowNet Product category.
ShowNet is a comprehensive demonstration of the Interop and has always been recognized as an important occasion to verify interoperability between multi-vendor equipment. Exhibitors from all over the world demonstrated their latest technologies and products, and tested their solutions in a real network environment. Huawei showcased the open SDN architecture composed of CE8860 and CE6800 at the exhibition, and verified the Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN) and Ethernet VPN (EVPN) features of the switches, which can be used to establish SDN networks within and between data centers. During the demonstration, Huawei switches also interoperated with products from other vendors to establish EVPN networks successfully.
Interoperability Verification at Interop ShowNet
After comprehensive assessment, the industry expert team awarded the Best of Show Award Grand Prix to the open SDN capabilities of Huawei CloudEngine switches. This award is a great recognition of Huawei data center SDN products’ openness and interoperability.
CloudEngine Switches Receive the ShowNet Award
Huawei CE8860 is the industry’s first 25GE top-of-rack (ToR) switch. It has four slots and can provide flexible bundles of GE, 10GE, 25GE, 40GE, and 100GE interfaces using various line cards. Huawei CE6800 is a next-generation data center Ethernet switch that provides high performance, high interface density, and low forwarding latency. With an advanced hardware structure design, the switch provides the highest 10GE/25GE interface density among ToR switches and has 40GE/100GE uplink interfaces. Huawei CE8860 and CE6800 support extensive data center features, including VXLAN, EVPN, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), and Transparent Interconnection of Lots of Links (TRILL). Additionally, they provide programmability and can work with Huawei Agile Controller using open protocols like OpenFlow to build an elastic, agile, and open data center SDN network.
“We are honored to receive the award for CE8800 and CE6800 data center switches. We will continue to deliver high-performance, high-reliability hardware equipment, and use an SDN open architecture on our data center products to enable interoperability on multi-vendor networks and to provide more agile network services to customers”, said Yu Li, general manager of the Huawei Data Center Network Domain.
