Over the past decade, GSM-R based digital wireless communication networks have been widely used in the global railway industry. Based on GSM Phase2+ standard-compliant advanced voice call features, such as group calls, broadcast calls, multi-priority preemption, and forcible service release, digital wireless communication networks have added functions of location-based addressing and functional addressing to meet the railway communication requirements, especially dedicated railway dispatch communication requirements. Meanwhile, GSM-R provides data channels for security applications such as ETCS-2 train control, synchronous operation of trains and electronic control of air brake, as well as non-security applications such as train number identification and on-train ticketing. GSM-R can fully meet the EIRENE - MORANE standard to boost railway transportation efficiency. In the railway safety aspect, high-definition cameras of different specifications are used for monitoring in different scenarios. If optical fibers are available along the railway, xPON access is adopted. In case no optical fibers are available, or in throat sections near the station, or on the train, high-speed mobile broadband access (LTE+Wi-Fi) is adopted. This meets the monitoring requirements of all railway scenarios and provides intelligent analysis and comprehensive monitoring. When operation efficiency and safety are ensured, the interactive PIS system provides geographic information of the railway station and surrounding areas as well as weather and traffic information for passengers and cooperates with the digital PA system to provide visual and audible passenger information. Meanwhile, onboard Internet services are available on trains so that more passengers can enjoy on-the-way office and entertainment services, which attract more passengers to travel by train.
