Meet All-Flash Storage in Graphics
SmartMatrix Full-Mesh Architecture

SmartMatrix Full-Mesh Architecture for New Reliability Benchmark

Huawei high-end all-flash storage of OceanStor Dorado is the industry's only system to tolerate failure of 7 out of 8 controllers and failure of 1 out of 2 controller enclosures. Failure of any controller is transparent to hosts and does not trigger link switchover.

Controller Failure Transparent to Hosts, Without Link Switchover

The front-end interconnect I/O module on the OceanStor Dorado storage system intelligently identifies and processes host I/Os. If a controller fails, the port chip on the I/O module detects disconnection from the controller and sends host requests to other controllers for processing. This process is finished within 1 second and is transparent to the host.

Tolerating Failure of 7 Out of 8 Controllers and Failure of 1 Out of 2 Controller Enclosures

Huawei high-end all-flash storage of OceanStor Dorado uses 100 Gbit/s RDMA interface modules for back-end interconnection. Eight controllers can access the same disk enclosure simultaneously, and failure of any controller enclosure does not interrupt data access. This, together with the HyperMetro-Inner software feature, allows the storage system to tolerate failure of 7 out of 8 controllers and failure of 1 out of 2 controller enclosures.
