Huawei SmartLi UPS Wins "Special Prize" at Interop Tokyo 2021

[Tokyo, Japan, April 14, 2021] Huawei SmartLi Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) won the "Special Prize" in the Cloud Computing Best of Show Award category on April 14 at Interop Tokyo 2021. SmartLi UPS is a digital power star product, with ultra-high reliability, ultra-high power density, ultra-high efficiency, and super intelligence.

Interop judges were particularly impressed with the innovations that Huawei has made in its UPS solution, demonstrating Huawei's efforts and achievements in terms of data center power supply and distribution system development.

Huawei at Interop Tokyo 2021

At the Interop ShowNet Exhibition Area, which showcases the best products and solutions each year, Huawei used SmartLi UPS to supply power to onsite demonstration devices, ensuring the interconnection of devices from multiple vendors and demonstrating the UPS's capabilities.

Feature 1: Ultra-high Reliability

Huawei SmartLi UPS uses Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, which are more stable than the lead acid batteries traditionally used in a UPS and eliminate the need for routine inspection. In the event of thermal runaway, the UPS generates no oxygen, mitigating the risk of fire. Additionally, by integrating advanced digital technologies — parameters such as voltage, current, switch status, and temperature — key nodes can be monitored in real time and abnormal status can be displayed, making fault location far easier. The application of the three-layer Battery Management System (BMS) system also implements refined management to ensure lithium battery reliability.

Feature 2: Ultra-high Power Density

Compared with traditional lead-acid battery UPS solutions, Huawei SmartLi UPS slashes the physical footprint by more than 60%. It can also function for 10 years without the need for replacement, greatly reducing Operations Expenditure (OPEX) for the entire data center.

Feature 3: Ultra-high Efficiency

Huawei's modular UPS reaches 97% efficiency in rectifier-inverter mode, as the modules use hibernation technology to achieve light-load efficiency. The newly launched intelligent online mode boasts even higher efficiency — 99% — achieving full-load efficiency and ensuring an uninterrupted, high-quality power supply.

Feature 4: Super Intelligence

Huawei SmartLi UPS adopts intelligent technology to predict the capacitor lifespan, fan lifespan, temperature of key nodes, battery capacity, and more. It transforms maintenance from passive to predictive. Working together with Huawei's modular UPS, the SmartLi UPS supports flexible capacity expansion, reducing the investment risk and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
