Themed "Energy Internet for Carbon Neutrality", this year's conference was held in Taiyuan — the capital city of Shanxi Province in Northern China. It was co-sponsored by Taiyuan University of Technology, Tsinghua University, IEEE Power & Energy Society (IEEE PES) and Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE). The conference was chaired by Shu Yinbiao, academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chairman of the China Electrical Engineering Society. More than 1000 experts and scholars, including a dozen academicians such as Zhou Xiaoxin and Li Liwei, attended the conference.

Huawei's paper proposes a novel net-zero carbon intelligent energy system (NZIES) based on multi-energy integration. The research looks at a new analytic architecture design that uses the T3-Cube transformation strategy model and four-flow value chain analysis framework. The paper also explores the methods, paths, and scenarios for zero-carbon energy transformation and how digital technologies can help upgrade the energy industry. IEEE puts papers through rigorous review and selection, with Huawei's paper winning the Best Paper Award among 1122 papers from 13 countries and regions.
