Huawei Helps Yamama Hospital to Build Future-Oriented 10G Campus Network and One-Stop IT Infrastructure

Background

Yamama hospital, owned by Saudi MOH, is one of the major hospitals in Riyadh. The hospital provides a variety of medical services to Riyadh and the surrounding community, ranging from emergency care, surgery, obstetrics and birth services, to the provisioning of basic healthcare.

Key Challenges

The previous network of Yamama hospital consisted of mostly legacy LAN switches with 100M access ports, while the hospital was facing increasing demands for network bandwidth, from both internal and external sources. Thus Yamama hospital requires a higher capacity network to support PACS and high bandwidth applications used by the doctors and other staff, to upgrade the existing network from 100M access to 1G access to meet the increasing bandwidth requirement.

Yamama hospital’s legacy IT system was underutilized, which prevented implementation of modern healthcare applications to increase operational efficiency to enhance patient services. Yamana hospital planned to build a onestop IT solution to simplify operation and management.

Solution Highlights

To resolve these challenges for Yamama hospital, Huawei offered a high reliable, state-of-art campus network as the network infrastructure and a modular datacenter for one-stop IT system. The solution includes: S-series core and access switches, firewall, eSight unified network management system, WLAN, as well as IDS2000 modular datacenter including UPS, Air conditioner, IT cabinet, PDF and battery. The system has the following advantages:

  • 10G campus network supports furture service expansion in next 5 years

The access switches are with GE access and 10GE uplink ports, which can meet the growing bandwidth requirement from hospital applications within next 5 years.

  • IDS2000: one-stop high density modular datacenter

IDS2000-M is a new generation modular data center solution. It adopts All-In-Room design and features high density modularization, optimal reliability and security, fast deployment, cost effectiveness, energy saving and excellent monitoring. As an integrative solution, IDS2000-M is designed for the room area from 10m² to 60m². It integrates cabinet system, power supply and distribution system, cooling system, monitoring system and the cabling system. It can support 2 to 16 IT cabinets with the total nominal power capacity from 10kW to 132kW. IDS2000-M offers various options including single row or dual row deployment, as well as aisle containment or without aisle containment deployment.

The IDS2000-M modular datacenter brings the following benefits: high density modularization, simple and low consumption, excellent monitoring and optimal reliability and security.

  • eSight unified management system for campus network and IT infrastructure reducing maintenance cost

eSight is a new-generation network management solution for enterprise users to centrally manage the basic network, unified communications (UC), telepresence meetings, video surveillance devices, and data centers. The system is used to monitor wired, wireless LAN systems, firewalls as well as IDS2000 modular datacenter.
