Huawei Hosts the IEEE-SA CAG Meeting in Shenzhen

Huawei proposed smart city architecture standard project approved in CAG

[Shenzhen, China, April 20, 2018] Huawei successfully hosted the IEEE-SA CAG meeting in Shenzhen from April 16 to 20, 2018. The meeting delegates are from GE, Huawei, Siemens, NEC, Microsoft, ARM, Qualcomm, L&T Infotech, China Electrical Standard Institute (CESI), State Grids of China (SGCC), IEEE P2413 Chairman and some IEEE-SA staffs. After the discussion, review and ballot of all the delegates IEEE-SA CAG unanimously approved Huawei proposed smart city reference architecture standard project P2413.1. It is one of the big milestones for IEEE Standard in Smart City area.

The P2413.1 standard of smart city reference architecture will include smart city Intelligent Operation Center (IoC), Internet of Things (IoT) platform and network, descriptions of different vertical applications and the commonality among them. The architecture will also describe the smart city cloud infrastructure, the edge computing and big data analysis technologies.

The smart city has lots of applications such as smart water management, smart waste management, smart road-lights, smart parking, smart environment protection, smart campus, smart buildings, smart healthcare, smart government, etc. P2413.1 will provide the blueprint for cross-domain interworking in smart city.

Smart City is ultimately about solving real-world problems. The early Smart City efforts focused on dealing with administrative data and Internet data. These are like rivers and oceans, but the data generated from the Internet of Things is like galaxies and stars. And to solve real-world issues in living cities, we have to deal with all of them: IoT, administrative and Internet data. Through the visualization of the city status in IoC, the connection and management of massive heterogeneous devices via the IoT platform and networks, it is more effect to have the cooperation among cross departments and application domains, and to improve the city operation and management based on the big data analysis decision.
