Huawei Unveils Latest FusionServer V5 at Intel Release in Beijing

Servers Enhanced with 5 Major Smart Features to Meet Application Demands More Flexibly

[Beijing, China, July 12, 2017] Today, Huawei unveiled its latest-generation FusionServer V5 at Intel's release for the Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors in Beijing. Running on the latest Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors, the FusionServer V5 series have been thoroughly upgraded with five major smart features for hybrid IT scenarios. The V5 series meets the demands of various scenarios more flexibly and delivers industry-leading computing and O&M efficiency.

Hybrid IT scenarios typically involve diversified services including traditional and new workloads, as well as cloud and non-cloud services. The Huawei FusionServer V5 is engineered to be automatically adaptive and has been deeply upgraded with 5 major smart features in computing, storage, network, management, and energy efficiency. Intelligence runs through the entire design. Specifically, it supports Smart Computing, which applies heterogeneous computing to different types of applications, thereby improving computing efficiency. For Smart Storage, it supports mixed configurations of SAS, SATA, and NVMe SSDs, allowing for flexible combinations to suit scenarios with focus on performance or capacity demands. Additionally, FusionServer V5 offers flexible networking options through flexible LOM, which is called Smart Networking. This feature allows customers to enhance the server with Huawei's innovative programmable converged NIC to accelerate I/O, meanwhile offering compatibility with 25GE and 32G FC options. The V5 servers also come with Smart Management. They leverage a built-in Fault Diagnosis & Management (FDM) mechanism, a Huawei patented technology, for in-depth fault diagnosis. This enables an unrivalled fault diagnosis success rate of up to 93% even for serious faults that may cause a system crash, such as CATERR or IERR faults. Another feature that sets the FusionServer V5 apart from its industry counterparts is Smart Energy Conservation. The FusionServer V5 is enhanced with another Huawei patented technology called Dynamic Energy Management Technology (DEMT). DEMT reduces energy consumption of the entire system by up to 16% with constant CPU loads, helping customers slash power costs.
