A mature public transport system is a crucial feature of a successful metropolitan infrastructure. As rapidly growing urban populations impose greater pressures on public transport, increasing numbers of cities have begun constructing metro transport systems.
Chongqing planned 10 metro lines, totaling length is 513 km. Over the next 20 years, Chongqing will complete 300 km of its metro system, with lines 1, 2, and 3 operational by 2015 and all the six lines will be completed by 2020. Metro line 2 is the first rail transit line in southwest China, and also the first straddle-type monorail line in China.
Already underway, Phase 1 of metro line 6 covers 23.684 km, of which 16.816 km is underground, 6.822 km is elevated, and 0.046 km runs at ground level. A total of 16 stations - 12 underground and 4 elevated - will connect line 6 at an average interval of 1.514 km.

It must also incorporate a range of subsystems covering transport, public and dedicated telephony, wireless communications, closed cable television, broadcasting, clocks, integrated power supply, cable layout, vehicle-mounted video surveillance, the alarm system, a designated police frequency, and device management.
Huawei has developed an integrated communication and monitoring system for metro lines 1, 2, 3, and 6. The system coordinates all the distributed automated subsystems, enabling each to effectively cooperate with the others to share information and resources. Connecting to the Chongqing Transport Command Center through high-speed communication channels, the Huawei solution enables the Command Center to unify the management of metro line 6 with the other four lines to ensure efficient train operations, high-quality passenger services, and fault prompts or help should any problems occur. `

The Huawei network solution employs a flat network architecture comprising the core, aggregation, and access layers; the server zone; and the storage network.
The core layer utilizes Huawei’s high-performance Layer 3 switches to provide Layer 3 forwarding. These switches run routing protocols with the aggregation switches, and provide redundant links to improve network reliability. Key service servers and terminals directly connect to the core switches so that important services can be processed quickly and efficiently.
The aggregation switches provide Layer 2 access for access devices and perform Layer 3 forwarding to aggregate traffic to the core layer. The aggregation switches adopt QinQ technology to deliver flexible access modes for terminals.
Layer 2 switches and WLAN devices are deployed at the access layer to provide wired and wireless access for various terminals. These devices support QinQ to implement a per user, per VLAN configuration that can facilitate flexible terminal management.
