SDN Controller: Data Center Network Edition

The agile SDN Controller-DCN edition is the core component of Huawei's Agile Data Center Network solution. Based on the hierarchical decoupling capability of SDN architecture, it provides an automatic mapping from applications to physical networks, resource pool deployment, and visualized O&M in order to build an IT service-oriented platform that allows the dynamic scheduling of network resources. 

The agile Controller-DCN edition can seamlessly interoperate with existing mainstream cloud platforms. Utilizing the open and standard northbound and southbound interfaces, highly reliable cluster load balancing capability, as well as elastic scalabity, the agile Controller-DCN edition allows customers to flexibly deploy and schedule network resources according to their IT service needs, enabling data center networks to be more agile in supporting cloud services.

Simplified, Easily-automated Provisioning and Services Deployment
Network service provisioning and performance management is a snap with graphical interfaces and separation of control and data planes. Agile controller is also interoperable with:
  • OpenStack Neutron cloud interfaces
  • VMware’s vCenter
  • Microsoft’s System Center VMM
O&M and Management

The agile SDN Controller provides an open Model Driven-Service Extraction Layer (MD-SAL) architecture with open, standards-based upstream and downstream APIs and full programmability enabled by software-defined networking.

RESTful protocols support standard upstream and downstream interfaces:

  • OpenFlow
  • Open vSwitch Database Management Protocol (OVSDB)
  • NetConf Protocol
  • Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
Modular, Scalable System Architecture

The agile SDN Controller software for data centers supports the Yet Another Next Generation (YANG) model for building service-based networks while allowing various types of fabric to co-exist. Distributed cluster and slice-based data storage technologies provide reliable load balancing and elastic scalability.

Reliability

A maximum of 64 controllers in a cluster provide horizontal scalability while non-stop service transmissions for service control nodes increase dynamic expansion of network management. A distributed database, slice-based data storage, and data synchronization and backup on different hosts keep your networks up and running.
